Basic Study for Superbugs
More and more infections are becoming harder and harder to treat precisely because of the development of superbugs. Their defenses against antibiotics are rapidly evolving. At the same time, researchers are looking for a range of ways to fight superbugs. Some are looking for new antibiotics, and others are working to improve diagnosis.
Ace Therapeutics offers superbug identification and antibiotic resistance assays to better understand its resistance and target it more effectively. We hope that these good tests, which continue to improve, will help reverse the rise of superbugs.
Introduction to Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria
Antibiotic-resistant bacteria have killed more than a million people worldwide in a single year. This indicates that these superbugs have become a major infectious disease. The main superbugs that we have studied and known more about so far include carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, MRSA, and Clostridium difficile. CRE is usually found in our stomach, but some of these bacteria cause bloodstream infections and are resistant to all antibiotics. Acinetobacter baumannii becomes resistant to antibiotics more quickly than other bacteria. Neisseria gonorrhoeae causes the STD gonorrhea, which in the past was easily treated with antibiotics. However, it is now becoming more resistant to antibiotics.
In addition to the few resistant bacteria already described above, there are still many bacteria that have gradually become resistant to certain antibiotics. Therefore, basic research on these known or unknown resistant bacteria is particularly important.
Our Services for Superbug Study
Solving the problem of superbug infections is difficult. Therefore, we offer a number of research services in the fight against drug-resistant strains to help solve some of the basic research challenges. Our service helps you understand the class and antibiotic resistance profile of your target superbugs. This helps you reveal how bacteria evolve rapidly and understand how they develop antibiotic resistance.
Superbug Identification
One of the key challenges in the fight against superbugs is the detection of drug-resistant bacteria. We offer low-cost, rapid detection tools and services for currently known or unknown drug-resistant pathogens. Specific diagnostics can be based on technology platforms such as phage, enzyme assays, biosensors, and CRISPR-Cas systems.
Resistance Testing of Bacteria
There is an urgent need to find solutions to combat superbugs. One of the challenges is the need for efficient and portable diagnostic tests for bacterial resistance. We offer several assay technology platforms, including phenotypic methods, genotypic methods, and microfluidic technologies. You can choose the applicable assay according to your needs.
